LIBERIAN GIRL, ONE OF THE MICHAEL JACKSON SONG

Liberian Girl was released on July 3rd 1989, it was the 9th single from Michaels Bad album to be released. It was written in 1983 for the Victory album and for Michael's close friend Elizabeth Taylor. This single was only released in Europe and Australia. Liberian girl peaked at number 13 in the UK chart and number 1 in the Irish chart. The song has been used by the likes of Jennifer Lopez, 2Pac and Mac Dre. It was not sung on any of Michael's tours.
Michael Jackson filmed Liberian girl with a lot of his celebrity friends featuring in it, although they were unaware they being filmed for the music video. The video featured Paula Abdul, Dan Akroyd, Bubbles (his monkey), Jackie Collins, David Copperfield, Corey Feldman (child star from The Goonies), Lou Ferrigno (the original Incredible hulk), Boy George, Danny Glover, Steve Guttenburg, Whoopi Goldberg, Olivia Newton John, John Travolta, Brigitte Nielsen and Steven Spielberg to name a few.
The video starts with Swahili language then goes on to show all the celebrities standing around talking and wondering when Michael was going to arrive (The phrase "Naku Penda pia, Naku Taka pia, Mpenziwe!" (I love you too, I want you too, my love!), which was sung by a South African singer by the name of Letta m'bulu (although the official language of Liberia is English, and Swahili is only commonly spoken on the opposite coast of Africa).
